Then ; Now (or, "What's up with that semicolon?")
At the heart of the Encore Careers Campaign are the stories of those finding work that matters in the second half of life. The new look of Encore.org highlights the essential elements of those encore journeys: Then and Now.
Then was what you did earlier ; Now is what you're doing, or hope to do, in your encore career. Between Then and Now is a semicolon, the pause that represents the transition, the time to rest, reflect and retool for a new stage of life and work. The new Encore.org is focused on that transition.
We've added Encore Career Advice, smart and specific "how to" articles to help you explore, prepare and find your encore career. A directory of Encore Career Resources will steer you to helpful sites and services. Partners such as CareerBuilder, Bridgestar, CommonGood Careers and Idealist are working with us to present high-quality job opportunities through our Encore Career Finder. Employers can find advice, resources and case studies to help them seize the encore opportunity as well.
To keep up with the growing member activity on the site, we are revamping our tools for groups and discussions. Soon, Encore Answers, will let you easily pose specific questions to other members of the Encore.org community – the real encore career experts. And our Encore Everywhere initiative will bring encore news and features to you wherever you are on the web, including Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and Flickr.
Not all of the new features are finished yet, so thank you for bearing with us. We're trying to make Encore.org the essential resource for all those making the transition to encore careers that combine continued income with personal meaning and social impact.
